16+ hands. He last worked on 5/2/24 and retired with a sore back. X-rays show mild to moderate kissing spine. He is suitable for light farm riding.
Therapy programs, please note! Dancer is a very nice horse to work with and to be around – a real gentleman. He loves attenion but will not demand it. He enjoys being groomed and pet and has excellent awareness of body space – will not crowd his handlers. He walks nicely on a lead rope, he stands patiently, and he is well behaved for the vet and farrier.
Dancer turns out overnight and is the leader of his herd of gentle geldings. He is happiest in this role – with rougher pasturemates, he will not stand down, and tends to lose weight playing hard instead of grazing. In a quiet group, he eats well and is bossy but kind to his underlings.
Dancer has mild anxiety about being ridden, likely due to previous back soreness. A brief longe session can help him loosen up before mounting. He stands well at the mounting block and does his best to comply with rider requests. He can be nervous in new environments but is willing to investigate scary things like new piles of poles, new jumps, etc. He will do best with an experienced rider for now.
Dancer is suitable for leisurely trail rides on moderate terrain.
Dancer is a cribber, controlled by a cribbing collar.
