Split The Wickets

10 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in KY
Gio Ponti (Tale OF The Cat) out of Goalkeeper by Arch
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!
16.2 hands. He last worked on 8/3/24 and retired with bone bruising and arthritis in his fetlocks. He is sound and ready to be trained for a new discipline.

If you’ve been searching for a smart, athletic, and well-intentioned horse to grow with, Wick might be exactly who you’ve been hoping to find! His work ethic is excellent and he is very honest in his response to cues – best effort all the time. His movement is forward and balanced – a solid, comfortable, uphill ride. He’s already started over ground poles and is showing real enthusiasm for cross rails – he wants a job and enjoys learning. Wick rides well alone and in groups – he hacks out alone weekly and loves it.

Wick would be lots of fun for starter level eventing, hunter paces, low level h/j, dressage or pleasure riding.

Wick will need a farm setting that ensures turnout with geldings only, or solo turnout near the barn. He is very polite during feed hour and for blanketing. He stands well for the farrier and vet. He does well on crossties with close supervision.

He will be best suited for flat work, eventing at starter level, and jumping up to 2’3″, including hopping over logs and other low impediments on trails.

He was castrated on 7/10/25 and still shows some interest in mares.
