Salute To America

5 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in NY
American Freedon (Pulpit) out of Salute To Summer by Colonel John
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!

16.2 hands. He last raced on 3/26/24 and retired with a right front suspensory rupture. We do have scans.

America will be on strict stall rest until 6/10/24.  At that point, he will need to have a scan done on the leg to check healing status. If doing well, he can begin hand walking for 30 days. If he continues to heal appropriately, on 7/10/24 he can start small paddock turnout, if your vet agrees. He will be suitable for flatwork only. The sesamoid bones were not compromised.

America is a kind gelding and pleasant to be around. He settled in nicely to farm life and is good in his stall. He seems to have a good foundation and is respectful of his handlers. He keeps to himself in the barn and enjoys watching what is going on.

He is a cribber, controlled with strap.

America is well behaved for grooming, blanketing, and loves his treats!
