16 hands. He never raced and has no published works. He is currently sound.
Oak Grove will need an experienced rider/handler at this time. He will need help gaining self-confidence under saddle and on the ground. He has a kind disposition but is quite shy. We think a fun and bubbly personality is just waiting to come out of this lovely boy. He did enjoy being groomed and didn’t mind the clippers. He stands well for grooming and enjoys the attention. He walks nicely on a lead rope and is respectful of his handlers/caretakers. He gets along well with his pasture mates and is quiet in the field. He seems to be middle pack of the herd and won’t challenge a more dominant gelding.
Oak Grove spends his day looking out his stall door and seems curious and intelligent.
He seems willing to please and will respond best to gentle, positive encouragement and correction. He did very well on his first ride under saddle in many years and seemed to enjoy getting back to work. He was quiet and willing and picked up on his queues quickly.
He stood well for the vet and farrier and doesn’t seem to have any vices.
He should be good for any discipline but looks like perfect for a western discipline.
Oak Grove îs currently residing at the Kentucky Derby Museum and will be back up for adoption in October!
