16.3 hands. Nacho is a race winner of $398,406. A true hardworking warhorse. He last raced in December 2011. We were not told of any injuries however our vet stated he does have some arthritis in his ankles but flex without pain. The more Nacho is ridden the better the ankles will be. We started Nacho on Adequan on 10/31/21.
Nacho is a big bodied gelding that turns out well with others. He has spent the last several years on 24/7 turnout and has done very well. When Nacho first arrived, he was nervous when separated from his friends, however, he has gained self confidence and is calm when under tack. Nacho is also calm when being handled and kind while walking on a lead rope. He learns quickly with regular work. He is calm in the stall and stands well for the vet and farrier. He loves to be groomed and will stand ground tied for a good mane pull. Nacho is very kind and does enjoy being with people.
Nacho enjoys being with his friends in the field and settles down to graze quickly. He adjusted well to being in the stall at night. He shows no vices in or out of the stall.
Nacho will need a patient, soft handed, experienced trainer to help him through his transition. Even better, if you can work with him daily to help him along quicker. He did listen well under tack and was not spooky to anything. He will be best suited for trails, but, with proper training, you could explore more sporty options for him. He would probably do best in a home with other horses.
Nacho will need shoes and supplements for his arthritis.
