Jolting Joe

7 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in KY
Mission Impazible (Unbridled's Song) out of Marilyn Monroan by Tapit
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!

16.1 hands. He last ran on 11/6/22. He retired with osselots, chips and arthritis from an old condylar fracture in his right front fetlock. There is a screw and multiple fragments in the ankle and we do have x-rays.

Joe is a very social and friendly guy who likes to talk and let everyone know he is around. Joe does well under saddle in the ring and on farm walks. He may jig when getting started, but settles quickly. He will do best with walk or walk/trot rides on moderate terrain. He enjoys rides with his buddies.

Joe gets along well with other geldings in the pasture. He is playful and will do best with ample turnout.

As long as Joe is given clear boundaries, he is very well behaved. He is good for grooming and getting a bath, and stands well for the vet and farrier. He loves attention and is gentle when recieving treats. He walks well on a lead rope and is respectful of his handlers.

If Joe feels he is in charge, he may get pushy or be difficult during farrier appointments. We have not seen this during his time at our farm, but it was reported by a previous home. Joe needs a home experienced with Thoroughbreds or other energetic breeds.

Joe will be best suited for trail and light pleasure riding.

He was castrated on 8/17/23.
