16 plus hands. He last worked on 7/1/25 and was retired. He has 2 screws in his right front ankle due to a condylar fracture in 2024. He has a left front tendon irritation that occurred in late July 2025 – light work, not rest, was vet recommended.
Istan is settling into farm life beautifully. He is quiet in his stall, friendly with his pasture mates, and is well behaved for his handlers. He stands still for grooming but does like to play with your hair, shirt, etc. He seems to be an easy keeper and will be a fun horse to work with.
Istan will need an advanced rider at this time. He is doing well moving forward from the leg at a walk and trot, and is responsive for downward transitions. A rider who can continue to teach basics will help him reach his full potential. He should be suitable for any non-racing discipline in early 2026, with a slow, cautious progression of work until then.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS EVENT: All horses will be half off the listed adoption fee if adopted and picked up by 12/15/25. Limited use horses and companions will have a waived fee for qualified and responsible homes that can commit to a lifetime home or will return the horse to Second Stride if no longer able to keep the horse and can’t find an appropriate home.
