16.3 plus hands. She last worked 11/26/2018 and is eligible for the RRP Broodmare Division. We were not told of an injury history.
Goretti is a kind mare who likes to have her own person to bond with. She loves carrots and enjoys receiving niblets while being groomed and tacked up. She seems to have no tickle spots – loves being gently curried on her back, belly, anywhere. She is not a fan of being girthed up – a slow and cautious approach is best.
Under saddle, Goretti is very cooperative and interested in her work. She has a soft mouth and seeks steady contact. She accepts light leg/seat aids very well for steering and gait changes. Goretti shows some hind end weakness at the trot, especially on the right, but this is improving with every ride. Goretti’s adopter will need to slowly bring her into condition before sport training begins. She will do best with a tactful, encouraging rider at the skilled intermediate level or above. With patient training, Goretti would be a wonderful dressage partner. She also enjoys hacking out with a buddy.
Goretti needs a little time to warm up to new people and surroundings. She can be a bit shy when encountering new things – she may stop and back up – but with a confident rider/handler, she overcomes her fear and moves forward. This occurs more in the arena/stable yard than out on hacks/trail rides. She is comfortable and brave in natural settings.
Goretti gets along well with her mare friends and is fine living out 24/7. She is also happy in a stall part time, but does prefer the pasture.
She stands well for the vet and farrier and walks willingly on a lead rope.
She should be suited for any age appropriate discipline.
