15.3 plus hands. She last raced in March of 2025 and retired sound, no longer competitive. She was bred in 2025 and did not get in foal. We were not given the reason. We are told she has not had any injuries in her past.
Carpe Diem is a true cuddle bug, very kind and gentle. She LOVES to be brushed and will back her butt up to you for a scratch. She is very pleasant to work with and walks politely on a lead rope. She enjoys being out with her friends and doesn’t cause any issues. Upon arrival to our farm, she was well mannered and calm. Sometimes, however, she becomes nervous in new situations, so she does need a skilled, confident handler.
Carpe is happy in a stall for part of the day, or out 24/7 with shelter. She gets along well with her pasture mates and is quiet when in her stall. She seems to be an easy keeper. She stands well for grooming and blanketing. She doesn’t mind being groomed while eating. A lovely mare!
Under saddle, Carpe is willing and good natured but very green. She needs a skilled rider or trainer to help her with confidence at the mounting block, and with travelling straight, slowing down, and maintaining a steady tempo. She needs a slow start to help her gain condition after her time off as a potential broodmare. Carpe paddles with her right front and right hind. She is comfortable and sound, but this is something to consider for adopters with competitive goals.
She should be suitable for any discipline. A PPE is recommended for sport use.
