Growing every day! He cannot be started under saddle until he is at least 2.5 years old, December 2026. He has a misalignment in his right hock. We do have x-rays. He is sound and this should not cause any soundness issues as long as he is allowed to develop before being started under saddle. He should be suitable for any non-racing discipline. As he ages, if he is in a more athletic career, he could develop arthritis in the joint.
Arthur is a sweet little guy who is learning about life. He is walking well on a lead rope and is respectful of his surroundings and people. Arthur seems intelligent and curious – he accepts new situations readily. He loves being groomed with a soft curry, does not mind spray bottles, stands quietly to have his blanket put on, and is easy to halter. He gets his feet picked daily.
Arthur enjoys pasture time with a very quiet older gelding who is helping him navigate the world and is teaching him good manners. Arthur also turns out well in a round pen by himself and is well behaved in his stall. We haven’t noticed any vices.
Arthur is available now for adoption to a qualified candidate who will castrate him at 1 year plus of age, sometime in June-July. He was foaled in mid-May. The adopter will need to be experienced with weanlings and yearlings and must commit to waiting until he is at least 2.5 years of age before starting him under saddle.
