Land Of The Free

3 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in FL
Girvin (Tale of Ekati) out of She Can't Help It by The Big Beast
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!

16.2 hands. Land of the Free raced once and last worked on 8/7/25, retiring with a right hind apical fracture of the medial sesamoid with suspensory involvement. Surgery successfully repaired the sesamoid and he has finished rehab for the suspensory. He does not have hardware in the joint. Land is currently turning out in a small grass pasture alone and is under saddle at a walk through mid March. If he is sound at the walk in mid- March, he may begin slow trotting in straight lines.

Land is a recently gelded 3 year old who seems to be very laid back. He walked off the van calmly and settled into the stall quickly. He is quiet when in a stall and in the field. He is generally respectful of his handlers and is well behaved for grooming, but can be frisky walking to and from his field for turnout. Overall, his attitude is gold and we really can’t say enough about this guy’s personality and demeanor.

Land has been well-behaved under saddle, but is very large, strong and three years old. He will need an experienced or professional rider to complete his rehab riding and begin basic training. He is currently riding at the walk only, in the ring and hacking. Once Land is in regular full work, we think he will be quiet and a nice option for adult amateurs.

Land should be good for any low level discipline if he remains sound. He will definitely be suitable for flat work. A PPE is recommended for an athletic career.

He seems to be intelligent and kind.  He is well behaved for vet and the farrier.
