16.2 hands. He last worked on 6/30/24 and retired in late winter 2024 with a right front suspensory injury. He has rehabbed and is doing very well under saddle.
Jose has a kind and willing personality with an intelligent disposition. He is well behaved on the ground and under saddle – his rider raves about his responsiveness and ability to learn quickly in the arena. Jose is currently working well at a walk and trot in the ring and on hacks. He will begin regular canter work this fall. If his adopter would like to do some low level jumping (under 2’3″), Jose can begin that in the spring.
Jose is well mannered for grooming and is respectful when walking on a lead rope. He enjoys being out 24/7 but also does well 1/2 time in a stall. He is easy to fit into any gelding herd – a middle of the pack kind of guy. He has been turned out with a mini horse and did well.
Jose stands well for the vet and farrier.
