16 hands. He last worked on 11/20/24 and retired with a tear in his right front suspensory ligament 11/2024. This is now healed and he is riding sound.
He is turning out with another gelding and upon first meeting, made fast friends. He is playful in the field and will like having a friend that will play back. He is quick to settle and spends most of his time grazing and roaming his field.
Candy was castrated on 2/6/25.
Candy is quiet in his stall and doesn’t bother his neighbors. He does prefer to be left alone when eating his grain. He is a kind horse that enjoys people and playing with his buddy. He is well mannered for grooming, and we haven’t noticed any vices. He stands nicely for the vet and farrier and respects his handlers. He walks politely on a lead rope.
He was well behaved under saddle and was sound at the walk, trot and canter. He didn’t mind standing at the mounting block. He walks calmly away from the mounting block as well. He settled quickly and did well listening to his rider. He stood well for tacking up. He seems intelligent and will make a nice prospect to learn together and see how far he can take you.
Candy should be suitable for any flat discipline. For a more athletic use, a PPE is highly recommended.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS EVENT: All horses will be half off the listed adoption fee if adopted and picked up by 12/15/25. Limited use horses and companions will have a waived fee for qualified and responsible homes that can commit to a lifetime home or will return the horse to Second Stride if no longer able to keep the horse and can’t find an appropriate home.
