16 hands. He last worked on 4/19/24 and retired sound. We were not told of any injuries.
Shack is a nice gelding with a calm demeanor. He is quiet in his stall and is good for grooming and tacking up. He can be a bit fearful of new people. We expect to this be a non-issue as he is introduced to more things off the track. He does like to be the boss in the field and will challenge a more dominant horse. He should be the only horse in the field at this time.
Shack will need an experienced/professional rider. He is still very racetrack minded and strong. He listens well but he has a lot to learn and will need a patient and knowledgeable partner to help guide him along. He needs to learn to relax under saddle and enjoy going at a slower pace. This horse has a ton of potential but will need someone who has the time to invest in bringing him along properly. He seems to be intelligent and willing to learn but he will need regular rides to accomplish proper transition. He will need to go to a home that can put him in a field alone.
Shack can be a bit spooky in his stall but once on a lead rope or under tack, he trusts his handler and is calm.
Shack was gelded in late July.
He is respectful of his handlers and walks calmly on a lead rope.
Through September, all listed adoption fees will be half off. Companion only horses fees will be waived.
