Salute To America

5 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in NY
American Freedon (Pulpit) out of Salute To Summer by Colonel John
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!

16.2 hands. He last raced on 3/26/24 and retired with a left medial branch suspensory rupture. We do have scans.

America will be on round pen turnout until 12/10/24.  He is back under saddle at a walk, trot but will need to stay in the round pen until 12/10/24. He will be suitable for light trails. He does have a fracture on the inside sesamoid.

America is a kind gelding and pleasant to be around. He settled in nicely to farm life and is good in his stall. He seems to have a good foundation and is respectful of his handlers. He keeps to himself in the barn and enjoys watching what is going on.

America had his first ride under saddle in 8 months and did very well. He is currently training at a walk and light trot. He was fairly relaxed and listened well to leg pressure. He will benefit from groundwork to get use to his riding transition and needs some time learning to understand the mounting block. He is an intelligent boy that will pick things up quickly and turn into a great riding horse! He can start to canter in March 2025.

He is a cribber.

America is well behaved for grooming, blanketing, and loves his treats!
