16 hands. He last raced in February of 2026 and retired sound. He is a race earner of almost $250,000 and has proven himself to be a winner at the Allowance level as well as a hard working and intelligent gelding.
Ludwig is an extremely gentle and submissive gelding. He keeps to himself in the field and is very quiet when out. He spends his time in the stall munching on hay and sleeping. He is currently on daytime turnout for approximately 8 hours/day but will also do fine with night time turnout or 24 hour turnout. Ludwig enjoys his bathing and grooming sessions and stands politely for both. He seems to be very relaxed and willing to do what is asked of him. He is respectful of his handlers and walks politely on a lead rope. He was well behaved for the vet and farrier.
Ludwig turned out quietly when introduced to a new friend. There was no drama at all and he trotted off to explore and graze. He enjoys just grazing next to his friend while outside and doesn’t seem to be too playful.
He will need to gain strength in his hind end and will benefit from hill work. He is ready for riding at the walk to build up strength behind.
A PPE is recommended for sport use.
