pictured with Kentucky Derby Winner and Champion Street Sense
A lifelong racing fan, Paul started working with horses in 1999. Under the tutelage of volunteers at the LUCI Center in Shelby County, Kentucky, Paul learned basic horse care and assisted in the Centerís therapeutic riding program. Paul later worked at Churchill Downs in his free time as a hotwalker and sometime groom for Hall of Fame trainer Carl Nafzger and Ian Wilkes. Paul was the hotwalker for Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense during that horseís three year old campaign.
The welfare of horses after their racing careers concluded became an area of interest for Paul and, in December, 2013, he began to assist Second Stride in the care of its retiring racers. Horses, he has found, are good for the soul.
A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, Paul represents the Louisville Metro Government as an Assistant Jefferson County Attorney.
