Second Stride, Inc. Board of Directors, Managers and Advisors
Founder Kim Smith
Kim is the owner and operator of Moserwood Farms, a thoroughbred and sport horse boarding and training facility in Prospect, Kentucky. She also works as a bloodstock agent and has been a licensed thoroughbred trainer. She is a lifelong horsewoman whose passion is helping develop the potential of former racehorses. She is a native of Kentucky, and holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville.
Kathy has owned ex-racehorses that she competed in eventing and dressage. She helps care for horses at Moserwood Farms, where Second Stride horses are retrained for their new careers. Kathy is also a Senior Programmer Analyst for ADP.
A lifelong racing fan, Paul started working with horses in 1999. He's been a volunteer at the LUCI Center in Shelby County, Kentucky, assisting in the Centerís therapeutic riding program. He later worked at Churchill Downs in his free time for Hall of Fame trainer Carl Nafzger and Ian Wilkes. He's a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Paul is also one of our most effective hands-on volunteers.
Nicole is a results-driven business development and product marketing professional with global experience in mobile enterprise technology across Fortune 100 and small start-up companies. Nicole is pictured here with Second Stride volunteer Toni Hindall and fellow board member Paul Rutherford.
Sara has experience with hunters and jumpers and she's also worked on the racetrack. In addition, she has extensive volunteer experience, and she holds a degree in molecular biochemistry. She works in technical sales, support, and formulations for the industrial fermentation industry.
Debbie is the owner of DMI Eventing, and two Second Stride graduates. She is an accomplished competitor, coach, instructor and trainer for the sport of eventing.
Administrative Manager Kate Olson handles the details of organizing horse donations, horse viewings and adoptions including all the paperwork, as well as follow-up contact to check up on adopted horses. Kate is also our representative at local community events.
Adoption Coordinator Toni Hindall starts the process of evaluating each horse that comes into the program, often picking up horses personally and helping settle them in at Second Stride. She helps us evaluate each new horse's soundness and way of going, meets adopters when they come to view horses, answers questions and helps arrange shipping.
Event Manager Carrie Redmon is tasked with helping Second Stride grow to another level, with fundraising and organizational innovation. Carrie is a hands on organizer of our biggest fundraising events.
Web Site Manager Amy Stevens maintains our web site with regular updates to news, events, donations and adoptions. All new horses in the program are posted on the web site quickly, and ads are updated regularly with our evaluations, new photos and videos. Amy is President of Horsesales, Inc., a company specializing in web sites and other internet promotion for horse related businesses.
